Convert WebP to JPG

Many websites save images as WebP, which some apps and forms do not accept. Turn them into JPG files that open anywhere.

Your image will be processed on this device.

How to convert WebP to JPG

  1. Select or drop one or more WebP images.
  2. Set the quality and the colour for any transparent areas.

Worked example: a WebP photo saved from a website

In this test a 451 x 300 WebP photo of a cat, 21 KB, became a JPG of 37 KB at 92% quality. The JPG is larger because WebP is the more efficient format, but it opens in every app and is accepted by forms that do not take WebP.

Making the JPG smaller

Lower the quality to 80% for a smaller file with little visible difference, or run the JPG through Compress image with a size limit. Animated WebP images cannot be converted here; only still images are supported.

Why websites use WebP

WebP was designed for the web: it makes photos smaller than JPG at the same quality and supports transparency, so pages load faster. When you save an image from a website, you get the WebP file the site sent. Most apps can open WebP now, but some photo printers, older Windows programs and upload forms still want JPG.

Convert up to 50 WebP files at once. Transparent parts of a WebP become the background colour you choose, white by default, because JPG has no transparency.

Why your images stay on your device

RedactNinja Image runs in your web browser. When you choose an image, it is read and processed on your own computer, tablet or phone. It is not uploaded to a server, so there is nothing for us to store, look at or delete afterwards. The background remover and face finder use small AI models that your browser downloads from this site the first time you need them; the models come to your image, not the other way round.

You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, select the Network tab and use a tool. Your image does not appear in the requests. The tools load no advertising or analytics code. How to check that nothing is uploaded.

Free, with no sign-up and no watermark

Every tool is free to use without an account. Nothing is added to your images, and there are no daily limits. Very large images depend on your device's memory, so older phones may be slower.
